Gathering old friends

In the past, whenever I saw old high school chums at the supermarket or wandering through a mall, I stopped to say how good it was to meet, and we promised to get together for a real visit soon.

But we rarely did.

Now I've changed that. Since I sincerely value those wonderful old friendships, I started carrying a paper and pencil  in my purse to jot down their names, addresses and phone numbers.

The result is we finally are having that reunion in my home Sunday.

I called everyone on that list, and had them contact  any friends I didn't meet, and all were invited to a "tea party" from 1 to 4. We'll keep it simple, with coffee and cookies, cheese and crackers--and lots of laughter.  I'm confident we'll keep meeting in each others' homes in the months ahead.

Why don't you try it? You don't have to sit home and feel lonely just because you no longer have a mate. Make the first move to contact old friends. And have a Happy Thanksgiving..
